TWO YEARS AFTER THE FINANCIAL MELTDOWN, MOST AMERICANS REMAIN ANXIOUS ABOUT PERSONAL FINANCES
Will the economy get even worse before it gets better? The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board), celebrating its 25th anniversary this week, says that Americans in search of the answers are turning to financial planners for help.
The CFP® Board’s new public opinion survey shows that nearly two out of three Americans are more concerned about their finances today. Just under half think having a financial planner is “more important in the last two years.”
A bit more than a third of Americans expect to see their personal finances improve in the next six months, while 80 percent say that Congress has not done enough “to deal with the financial market problems and their impact on American investors.”
The recent economic challenges are driving many to seek professional assistance. Many people are choosing to invest their trust in Certified Financial Planners®. CFP® certification is granted only to financial planners who have met rigorous education, examination, experience and ethics requirements. CFP Board polices our profession, enforcing those requirements and publicly sanctioning those who break the rules.
